Have some fun this Easter!
Easter is soon approaching and therefore what would normally be the Spring wedding season commencing, we are unfortunately not able to have any weddings due to Covid-19! However, we can always look to the future and plan a fantastic Easter themed wedding for next year. Here are some great, fun themed wedding ideas to look at for planning your special day…
Easter Wedding Attire
Easter means Spring and you automatically think of pretty pastels, feminine floaty wedding dresses and accessories (such as shoes, bouquets, head dresses, jewellery and make up) to add a beautiful splash of colour to your special day.
When thinking of your Bridesmaids’ dresses think mismatched pastels, dressing up in vintage tea-party gowns or even simply hitting the high street and finding some fantastic. Whatever you choose, you can then match your Groom and Groomsmen to your colour theme by adding the mismatched pastels with a flower button holes or simply having a matching tie and hankie.
It’s all about the colours this Easter, so why not go with the in crowd and use buttercup yellow, serenity blue, rose quartz and lilac grey for a pretty pastel day!
Spring Flowers and Cakes
With a Spring wedding you will be in your element picking your flowers for your bouquet. With Daffodils, Tulips, Crocus and Primrose to name but a few, you will have so much choice! This is good news for your pastel theme, so your bouquet will be a floral delight for you to hold. Just ask your florist for ideas to mix and match the season flowers to link with your colour scheme.
When playing with colour don’t forget your wedding cake. Pastel painted cakes to vintage bird cage cakes can look the part and take centre stage on the night. If it’s a naked cake your looking for, why not make it pastel coloured such as pale pink or yellow and place real flowers on top to match your bouquet as an added embellishment.
It’s all about the added details on the day and with Easter you can have lots of fun! Why not add a touch of moss on the tables, seasonal flowers (such as miniature Daffodils) in jars, Easter eggs in nests or cute Easter cake pops as your favours, the list of Easter ideas are endless!
Themed Food and Drink
Easter can conjure up lots of different culinary Spring surprises for your special day.
Let’s start with your reception drinks… why not follow your colour scheme of pastels in cocktails…
Try an Aviator which is a vintage gin cocktail which has a gorgeous lavender hue, or Rhubarb, Elderflower Gin Cooler showing a gorgeous coral colour or a Hibiscus Gin Sour (what is it about Gin and Spring?!) which makes a pretty pastel pink colour with a delicate foam topping. These will definitely give the “WOW” factor and get the party started!
So, let’s talk canapes…
Your guests can nibble on seasonal radish toast with chive butter, roasted strawberries, basil and goats cheese crostini’s, fava bean crostini’s with Pecorino and mint or fried Manchego cheese with Lavendar honey or if you want a vintage twist you can’t go wrong with a devilled egg! These all fit with the pastel theme too!
For the main wedding breakfast why not go traditional with roast lamb and Spring vegetables, and for dessert why not go festive with a Simnel cake or hot cross bun bread and butter pudding!
Don’t forget the children!
Easter is all about kids. Why not do an Easter egg hunt for them during the reception drinks? Easter egg hunts are especially great at parkland & wooded venues. Serve them mocktails with Easter biscuits afterwards, whilst the big kids kick back and enjoy their cocktails and canapes.
I don’t know about you, but Easter weddings sound a blast!
